  1. Heyyy! I’m so excited for you and so jealous! First: I subscribed to your blog and it says you have 1600 followers already. And you’ve only posted one blog… that can’t be real. I don’t even know that many people. Second. I’m literally so impressed with your packing ability! You’ll learn to love the simplicity of it. It’s so freeing to be able to just pick up and go whenever. Lastly: don’t change the New Zealand plans! We’ll need to coordinate and make sure we meet up!

  3. Just got back from Portugal. You should listen to Fado music at bela vinho e petiscos and eat little custard pies at pasteis de belem while in Lisbon. We also stayed in a little surfer beach town called Arrifana in La Costa Vincentina. It is gorgeous- the beaches are nestled along the cliffs. There are gorgeous hikes you can do in the area too. We also stopped by another beach called Monte Clerigo which was stunning. Both towns have great restaurants. You have to try vinho verde while in Portugal! Enjoy!

  4. What a wonderful title, Chasing Summer, enjoy your adventures. Oh, it’s darn cold in Johannesburg in September, coming straight out of summer in Ontario, we packed our summer clothes. Didn’t take long to purchase polar fleece jackets, etc. Snow fell just outside Jo’burg on September 16th, 2001! Good luck in your Chase! Cheers,

  10. Hi Lisa,

    Loving following your posts!

Just a note about Belgian Chocolate. The shop next to my bridal shop in Dayton is owned by a woman from Belgium. She has the license to sell Mary Chocolates in the US. She opened her first shop, Madame Delluc, about 3 years ago right next to us…how lucky are we!!! She is now in the process of opening one in the 900 Shops in Chicago…they are wonderful chocolates. Wishing you and Chad a Merry Christmas season!

  11. Hello Lisa and Chad! This is Michelle Lane…we live across the street from Lisa’s parents. Your dad has been encouraging us to check out your blog and we are so glad we did! Our oldest daughter, Sophia left this morning for a two month internship in Rome, and we will be joining her in a week for two weeks. We appreciate your recommendations as we will be traveling to Cinque Terre and Florence.
I am debating whether or not to take my good camera or just rely on our phones for photographs…what did you two use?

    1. Hi Michelle! You guys will LOVE Cinque Terre and Florence. We traveled with a good Nikon camera with only one, multi-functional camera lens. We had a compact camera case to make sure it didn’t take up too much room. With the beautiful buildings & statues in Florence and the scenery in Cinque Terre I would bring the good camera if I was you.
